Towneley Park

Towneley Park is a historic estate and the largest park in Burnley with a total of 180 hectares of landscaped parkland surrounding Towneley Hall and Museum. It has a long history as a private estate, with much of its current landscape the result of work carried out in the late 18th Century by Charles Towneley.

The park and former family residence, Towneley Hall were purchased by Burnley Corporation in 1902 and have been in public use ever since. It is widely and affectionately known locally as “the jewel in Burnley’s crown.”

There are several car parks at Towneley. Both the Riverside and Barwise car parks give good access to the POC, £2 for the day.

The start post is located at the path junction at the back of the hall, immediately behind the friends of Townely's information board. Finish is close by.

There are 26 controls available for you to find. There are 4 suggested courses which you can follow or you can use the all controls map as a score course where you visit as many controls as you can in a set amount of time, ie one hour. The maps are available to download for free.
