Tarn Hows - LOC Maprun Challenge Novice

The Lakeland Orienteering Club Maprun Challenge is a series of novice anytime-orienteering courses to complete and capture using the Maprun app on your smartphone.   

All the Maprun Challenge courses are suitable for beginners to navigate by following line features such as paths, walls and fences.

Tarn Hows is a beautiful area of fellside with exceptional views of the tarn and surrounding fells.  

Our Yellow course follows the accessible lakeshore path with only slight detours from the path.  

There are some areas of higher crags and longer vegetation on the Orange course.

Please take care around water and be aware that there are often docile cattle roaming in the area.

Tarn Hows Yellow course is 2.4km in length with 9 controls to find. 

Tarn Hows Orange course is 3.6km in length with 11 controls to find.
