Rickerby Virtual Courses

New updated virtual orienteering courses for 2023 using the MapRun6 application are now available at Rickerby Park on the banks of the River Eden in Carlisle. Rickerby is a floodplain parkland area, predominantly grass with scattered trees. There may be cattle grazing as part of the land management.

Both courses are line courses: start at the start, navigate the course in the correct control sequence from checkpoint number one onwards until you reach the finish. Long is 3.9km (25 controls), Short 2.4km (17 controls). Note that the courses start and finish in different locations from each other, and different locations from previously.

Courses can be found on Maprun6 by using the "Select Event" app button, then navigating through the app folder structure: select UK/Cumbria/North where you can then find both courses. Alternatively you can scan the Maprun6 QR code on the map you download.

You don't need the printed map if you are prepared to use your phone for navigation but most people would benefit from using the printed map to navigate the course with the phone secure in a pocket doing the GPS tracking.
