Oxford University Parks

Travel Directions:

The University Parks are best reached using Pear Tree Park and Ride on the Northern ringroad and alighting at the Radcliffe Observatory Quarter. Alternatively there is limited paid and time based parking on the streets North of the parks.

Where to Start:

Courses have been planned to start from two posts, one by the South Lodge entrance and the other near Keble Gate. The start near South Lodge is under a notice board while the start near Keble Gate is represented by a blank square. If attempting the Score then any post can be used as the Start/Finish

The Map:

Links to up to date maps can be found on the OUOC website (ouoc.org.uk/permanent-orienteering-course.shtml). The map is at 1:4000 scale with minimal contours. The parks are generally very open with sports pitches marked as pink hashing that must not be crossed. Multiple line courses varying in levels of difficulty and length are provided - control descriptions are worded on lower levels and become symbolic as the levels continue with some overlap between the two. The Map is copyright OUOC and TVOC.

The Controls:

The controls can all be found on specially placed wooden posts about 50cm high. The plaques are pink and white with a number and two letters, the letters should be noted down to check against once you have finished.

Questions:

You are welcome to contact poc@ouoc.org.uk if you have any questions about the course, especially if you are a school looking for advice on how to use the course - we would love to hear how you get on!
