Farnham Urban Score

Score points by visiting as many checkpoints as you can within 60 minutes.

Timing and checkpoint visits are all recorded using the free MapRunF app.

This is an urban course starting in the Waggon Yard Car Park with checkpoints located all over Farnham.  Because you will need to cross many roads, under 16s must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

For details of this course, including the exact location of the start and finish, see the Farnham Urban MapRun course page from Guildford Orienteers.

Other Things to do in the Area

Farnham is a pleasant, bustling market town with independent shops, coffee bars and restaurants and is well worth exploring if you have the energy after orienteering!  The course will give you a good feel for the town as you will probably see Farnham Castle and Park, Gostrey Meadow, the William Cobbett pub and tomb, Bishops Meadow, the University, the Parish Church, the Maltings, Castle Street, the Borelli Walk, the much less well known Shrine Museum (don't miss it!), and you may pass by the ongoing Brightwells Yard & East Street redevelopments.

You can relax in Farnham Park, a 320 acre medieval deer park overlooking the town with an impressive 1km tree lined avenue and a large children's play area. Farnham Park is of historic importance. There is evidence of activity in Farnham Park as far back as the Old Stone Age, but the building of the Castle in the early 12th century established Farnham as an important residence of the Bishop of Winchester, a powerful figure in medieval Britain.

Superb views of Farnham can be seen from the Avenue and from the northern boundary of the park.  Park facilities include a large adventure playground, a toddler's play area and public toilets.
