COMPTON VERNEY

Compton Verney estate offers very accessible Orienteering in an attractive setting. There is extensive parkland with an ornamental lake (Capability Brown) and a country house with cafe and Art Galleries. They are CLOSED ON MONDAYS.

At the Welcome Centre by the car park, you will be able to purchase maps for each of the 3 Permanent Orienteering Courses for £1.  Compasses may be borrowed for a small returnable deposit. Alternatively, download a map hereand self-print.

There is an entrance fee for all to the Grounds/House/Special Exhibitions, depending on how far you want to go.

The Estate is closed during the winter from about the 10th of Dec to the middle of Feb.  Please check the website before you go.

Other Things to do in the Area

The House has some permanent Art Galleries with Paintings (Italian and English), Chinese Sculptures and artifacts, and a Folk Art gallery, amongst others.

There is a Shop with Art-related stock in the House.

For an extra entrance fee, there are usually 2 Special Art Exhibitions which change every few months (see website for details www.comptonverney.org.uk).

There is a cafe and a restaurant in the house, and the Welcome Centre has a drinks machine too.
