Birkrigg Common - LOC Maprun Challenge Novice Courses

The Lakeland Orienteering Club Maprun Challenge is a series of novice anytime-orienteering courses to complete and capture using the Maprun app on your smartphone.   

All the Maprun Challenge courses are suitable for beginners to navigate by following line features such as paths, walls and fences.

Birkrigg Common is an area of open fell with lovely views over the surrounding coastline and out to sea. 

The paths are more clearly defined in Summer when the bracken is high. 

There are some high crags which are clearly marked on the map.

Birkrigg Common Short course is 2.1km in length with 12 controls to find. 

Birkrigg Common Long course is 3.1km in length with 15 controls to find.
